PRINCESS CUT ENGAGEMENT RING (1989)
re-designed to PINKY SIGNET RING (2023)
“This ring is not your typical heirloom. It was given to me by my mom and I kept it for years, uncertain of what exactly to do with it. It felt wrong to part with the symbolism that it held, and the lesson it represented for me. Sometimes things work, and sometimes they don’t. Do we throw away the memories, or do we gain wisdom from them to form our present truths? Being able to reframe this story feels nostalgic and cathartic. This ring now acts as a reminder of how life's intricacies have shaped me and influenced the perspective I embrace.”

Ring Circa 1900
After the death of Nadine de Paris, Margaux and her siblings sat around a table full of their grandmother’s  jewels and took turns choosing which pieces they wanted to keep. As her sisters chose their pieces wisely, Margaux was indifferent. She did however feel that there was something special about the oddball of the pile. A bizarre yet fascinating ring caught her attention. An amethyst stone protruded from the ring to a rather sharp point, laced with small freshwater pearls and diamonds, was this a secret weapon? As the rest of the jewels were being chosen like pretty girls to dance, this marvel remained alone on the table; the underdog indeed. She gladly took home the ring and it sat in her jewelry box for 10 years…

2023
Margaux feels like this pendant is a gift from the universe. She is proud to have rescued the underdog of the bunch, but more importantly she feels that the piece radiates joy and love and she knows she is protected by her grandmothers secret weapon everyday.
If only they knew….

Circa 1940
Laurel and her siblings used to work in her father’s antique store in Galena,  which is known as Illinois’s longest running (and most disorganized) antique store. Laurel was good at math so she was already running the cash register by age 10. When the store was quiet, she would try on antique jewelry to keep herself occupied. Her dad noticed she really had her eyes on a this piece and gifted it on her 12th birthday.
Fast-forward - It sat in her jewelry box for over 20 years, collecting dust.

2022
When presented with different design options, Laurel felt immediately drawn to the symbolism of the eye. She wanted this piece to represent the magic and power she naturally has within. She is very happy to report, she finally wears the ring her father gave her every day.

“As a guitar player I couldn’t wear the ring my father gave me, it was too big, too bulky. It also just didn’t feel like me. Since working with The Gold Project I now wear my ring every day, and it feels really special to always have him with me.”

Circa 1950
Brittany came to us with a family heirloom, that has been collecting dust in her jewelry box for years. She wanted to honour her grandmother and her personal style by redesigning it into something she would actually wear.

2022
Brittany now wears all 3 pieces every day and never takes them off.
Ring: 5 row stack band with 2 marquise diamonds and pave detail
Pinky Ring: Offset marquise diamond
Circle pendant: Marquise diamonds and floating stone on chain

“I wanted to honour my grandmother and still be true to my style. The Gold Project helped me create pieces I wear everyday. My grandmother always said to me; “Don’t be like me, wear your jewelry!””
